How to Make a Water Filtration System

There is no reason why someone needs to live with unclean water, despite where the water comes from. (i.e.: public water system, well water, lake, pond, etc.) There are many places where you can buy a water filtration system at many different prices. But the major reason why someone should consider building there own instead of purchasing it, is a persons individual budget. If you are preparing for the dollar collapse now and purchasing the things you need, a water filter might be one of the things you will want to put on your list. And if you are one of the people who live from paycheck to paycheck and can’t afford to purchase one, then building your own is the best and most likely the only option you will have when there is no clean water available.

  • First you will need some type of bottle. For the purpose of this post I will be using the measurement of a 16oz water bottle.
  • Cut and remove about a ½ of an inch off the bottom of the bottle.
  • With the cap still on, push a leaf all the way down to the neck of the bottle.
  • Add about 2 inches of sand.
  • Next add about 2inches of rocks. (Rocks should be about 1inch in diameter)
  • Then add about 2 inches of grass and leaves/
  • Optional, add a larger rock on top of leaves to hold everything in place.
Now you able to filter some water using your homemade water filtration system. You will have to discard the first filtered water. And filter your water a few times, but you will see how clear the water has become. I would not drink the water as is, I would boil the water to make sure to get rid of any remaining bacteria. From the looks of the new water bottle filtration system you just build, a person would not at all believe that you would be able to get clean drinking water from it, but surprisingly you are very much able to get clean water. It is the different layers of material that aid in the filtration of the water. There are other ways of building a water filter, but i found this method to be the simplest and the items would be very easy to find. You don't have to use the 16oz water bottle mentioned above, you can use any type of container such as a soda bottle, a juice container, or even a milk jug. just adjust the amoumt of material you use, based on the size container you decide to use.
